Meet The Team

the Dedicated Team Behind the Scenes

At PetCare Animal Hospital, we’re not just a place of care; we’re a place where pets and people come together to create lasting bonds. We take immense pride in being a cherished part of Cincinnati, Loveland, and the surrounding communities’ history and look forward to playing a crucial role in its future.

Dr. J. Peter Hill

DVM / Owner

Dr. J. Peter Hill has cared for pets as a general practitioner for more than two decades. It is his mission at PetCare Animal Hospital to provide high-quality pet health care so that pets may live longer, happier and healthier lives. Dr. Hill’s goal is to provide clients with access to cutting-edge products and services and authoritative educational content that focuses on enhancing the bond between a client and his or her pet.

Dr. Hill received his Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science and a Master’s degree in Dairy Science, with a focus on Reproductive Physiology, at Ohio State University. He continued his veterinary education at the University of the Philippines College of Veterinary Medicine and was awarded his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 1983.

Dr. Hill and his wife, Julie, are the proud parents of a daughter, Lily. Their family also includes three dogs, Lucy, Bella and Mia; two parrots named Gigi and Largo; and a cat named Effa. When he’s not caring for animals at the hospital, Dr. Hill enjoys golfing, traveling, cooking, and going on hikes.

Dr. Jean Gladis

Dr. Gladis has been with PetCare since 2014 but has been practicing veterinary medicine for over 20 years.  She has worked with both large and small animals, exotic pets, and wildlife.  She enjoys interacting with owners as much as her patients and educating them with proper medical husbandry and practices.

Dr. Gladis spends most of her free time with her husband, Kurt, and their critters which include a lab (Woody), a dobe (Scarlet), a rescue lab mix (BeBe), two cats (Buell, the one eyed cat and Mew), and two adult bearded dragons (George and Spike). She is definitely the outdoorsy type, and enjoys kayaking, bird watching, biking, hiking and when the weather does not cooperate she likes to do woodworking projects and enjoys sketching and painting. Dr. Gladis has done lots of traveling and even lived in Australia for several years!

Dr. Gary Smith

DVM

Dr. Gary Smith joined the PetCare team in February 2024, but has been practicing veterinary medicine for over 40 years.  He is a graduate of The Ohio State University and then completed an internship at Rowley Memorial Animal Hospital in Massachusetts.  He subsequently spent time at the largest animal hospital in the world, Animal Medical Center, in New York City.  Dr. Smith has an extreme passion for veterinary medicine and building life-lasting professional relationships with his clients.  He loves surgery, but also really enjoys alternative medicine including forms of acupuncture.  He is proficient in acupuncture, acupressure, ultrasound and diagnostic medicine.

Continuing to practice gives Dr. Smith pleasure every day to be able to treat and help your pets to a healthy life.  It is gratifying to work with clients in partnership for their pet’s care.  In addition to the aforementioned aspects of veterinary medicine, he also enjoys dentistry as it makes a difference in the long-term health of pets.  Dr. Smith also has a couple of significant studies he is working on involving cancer and vitamin D3 deficiencies.

Dr. Smith has a wonderful supportive wife of 50 years, 3 children and 5 grandchildren.  His philosophy on life is continual education, a number of volunteering activities, and ultimately making a difference in people’s and animals’ lives as a legacy.

Lauren B.

Practice Manager

Lauren began her career at PetCare as a Veterinary Assistant in June 2010.  After years of hard-work and learning the business, she was promoted to Business Director in November 2014 and then Practice Manager in November 2022.  She still enjoys helping clients establish preventative care strategies to help their pets live a happy, healthy life but has really enjoyed working hands on with all of the reptile patients that come in.

Outside of work she enjoys spending her time hiking, SCUBA diving, camping, and spending time with her family and friends. Lauren and her husband are parents to two little girls, two Louisiana Catahoula pups, a cat and a menagerie of reptiles.

Ragen B.

Receptionist

Ragen came to PetCare in May 2019 with almost 20 years of human medicine reception experience.  She is the master of multitasking and enjoys helping the workday flow smoothly.  Her favorite part of switching from human to animal medicine is that she gets the best of both worlds – maintaining client relationships and daily doses of cute animals to interact with!

In addition to her son and two daughters, Ragen is mom to two large dogs – Chubba and Tank.  When she isn’t answering phones and caring for the animals at the office, you can find her with friends and family doing “anything outdoors” and coming up with fun activities for the kids.

Barb B.

Veterinary Assistant

Barbara, aka BB, joined the PetCare team in 2020 because of her lifelong love for animals. BB started her career as a receptionist and took every opportunity she could to evolve into an assistant. Because of this, she is truly a team player that can work in every area of the clinic when called upon. BB is also always willing to share her knowledge to help guide her team to success. In the future, she plans to further her education and become a certified veterinary technician. She is always looking for opportunities to learn new skills and improve upon what she has already learned.

BB’s unique trait is that she truly enjoys getting to know the clients and their fur-babies. She is always engaging clients both in person and over the phone to provide a personalized experience for everyone. BB also extends her love of fur-babies at home. She currently has one sassy torti and is looking to expand her fur family

Sara D.

Veterinary Assistant

Joining the PetCare team in September 2022, Sara brought years of pet grooming experience with her.  Although she doesn’t groom dogs too often anymore, this is a skill she never refuses to share with us!  In her role as an assistant, Sara enjoys working closely with the doctors during surgical procedures.

Sara and her husband share their home with 3 cats – Sonic PeePaw, Spyro Bubert and Balgruuf; and a bull terrier mix named Estella Ripley.  When she isn’t soaking up as much veterinary knowledge as she can, she enjoys playing video games, art and just hanging with her fur-babies.

Beka G.

Veterinary Assistant

Beka started at PetCare in September 2021 as a kennel assistant.  While a student in the Live Oaks Veterinary Assisting program, she was promoted to Veterinary Assistant.  Throughout her time at PetCare, she has jumped into every task thrown her way.  She particularly enjoys working with the doctors on cases where she helps teach the clients about various conditions and courses of treatment.  Her goals for the future include enrolling in an RVT program.

As with most of the PetCare staff, Beka enjoys spending her time outdoors.  She can frequently be found hiking and camping with her dog, Kona, or going to concerts with her friends and family.

Samantha M.

Veterinary Assistant

In November 2021 Samantha joined the PetCare team as a kennel assistant.  Over the years she has shifted into the veterinary assistant role and continues to strengthen her skills.

She is currently enrolled at the University of Cincinnati and is working on getting into their RVT program.

Dailyn P.

Veterinary Assistant

Dailyn started at PetCare in November 2022 and has become a vital asset to our team.  She has the skills to assist the doctors, but her attention to detail has made her invaluable to our reception team as well.

Carolina R.

Veterinary Assistant

Carolina started at PetCare in August 2021 as a Veterinary Assistant.  She is currently an RVT student at Sinclair Community College and will be graduating soon.  While in the clinic, her skills have grown tremendously, and she is always striving to be better.  She has a special passion for learning about exotic medicine and hopes to continue learning more in the future.

When Carolina isn’t in the clinic or class, she can be found pet sitting various species of animals or volunteering at the Newport Aquarium.  At home, she has a crested gecko named Hynmei and a cat named Luna.
